Beaches and islands

saint hilaire de riez

A tour of the Vendée coastline

The Vendée coastline is known for its three different faces. First of all, the Corniche du Bois Vinet which dominates the estuary of the Vie river, offering us during the stroll, the Small Castles of the Corniche, typical buildings of the 19th century seaside architecture.

Then the Corniche vendéenne from the Pelle à Porteau to the Anse de la Goutaille, a classified site since 1926 representing the only remaining part of the old Ile de Rié. Finally the walk on the cliffs of SionThis is a rocky area subject to intense erosion because of its northwestern exposure, where every year in winter the famous red algae so coveted for their nutritive virtues are washed up, especially by farmers who use them as fertilizer.

the 5 pineaux
